BUMC Lead Team

Our initial SLI (Spiritual Leadership Incorporated) team, which began its work in September, 2011, has concluded their time together. As a result of a year-long process of learning, searching the Scriptures, conversation and prayer, they have completed the church’s lead Ministry Action Plan (MAP) which includes a statement of our vision, mission, and values as well as initial implementation strategies.

The work of this initial team is being continued by our new Lead Team, consisting of Leslie Hotzfeld, Kaye Harvey, Shannon Garrett, Mack Strange, Jeff Wilson, Travis Garner, Carol Bumbalough, Susan Graham, Lucille Nabors, and Neal Hinson, facilitated by SLI coach Craig Robertson. Our Lead Team will flesh out the initial MAP and devise strategies and timelines for meeting our ministry goals so that we may become a congregation who is living like Jesus and bringing joy to God in all that we are and do.

Throughout the SLI process, the initial team studied and practiced the concept of team-based ministry in which spiritual leaders are cultivated and equipped through a process of loving God and one another, learning, and leading. Team-based ministry is "generative" – that is, teams of lay and staff leaders will be created in all ministry areas of the church, each with its own MAP (Ministry Action Plan), and each designed to cultivate more spiritual leaders.
