Mission Opportunities Around the World
South Africa Mission Project
BUMC has partnered with Howick Methodist Church in Howick, South Africa, to financially support the construction of a worship/community center in the township of Tumbleweed. This community struggles with extreme poverty, illness, and a lack of educational opportunities. This facility will provide a place to worship God, a medical clinic, a preschool and economic opportunities for the community. We also support the Thembelihle preschool at Howick Methodist Church. Be the Hands of Christ in Honduras
“The Hands of Christ” Hospital - Help us build a hospital in Honduras for women and children.
Imagine a modern city of more than a million people with Mercedes Benz dealerships, fine
restaurants, bustling roads, shopping malls, and more. Sounds like Nashville? Now imagine
70% of the population without even basic plumbing, utilities, emergency health care, and never
seeing the inside of a hospital.
This is the reality of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. For over eight years Dr. Ana Lamon and her husband
John have traveled throughout this city and surrounding communities setting up portable centers
with mission groups like those from BUMC, offering medical treatment and Christian compassion
to the many disadvantaged citizens living in what any of us would consider deplorable conditions.
The plans are drawn and the land has been purchased. Now is the time for our congregation to step
forward with funding to begin construction of a modern, well equipped building to serve these
deserving women and children and to deliver babies in a safe, sanitary environment.

Become a Refugee Angel Sponsor with World Relief
Everyday new refugee families are calling Nashville “home” after years of running from war or persecution in their home country. Before the World Relief team picks them up at the airport, they don’t know who they are. They don’t yet know all that they have endured or the unique talents they will bring to our country. But, they do know the refugees are coming and that a beautiful story is unfolding. World Relief Nashville’s Match Grant program matches every dollar donated with two more. Your refugee Angel Sponsorship of $220 will empower a newly arrived refugee in 2012 to become self-sufficient by providing 6 months of housing, healthcare, education, English language classes, job placement and volunteer support you will receive special updates with photos and stories as your Refugee Angel arrives at the Nashville airport and begins to learn self-sufficiency in the USA.
