Great Is Thy Faithfulness

DAILY READING

Psalm 89:1-4

John 7:40-52

This weekend’s reading: Luke 2:1-20

FIELD NOTES
Today we focus on Psalm 89:1-4. We’ve read it for three days in a row, and it’s beautiful words of praise are beginning to be inscribed in our hearts. Through the Psalm, we learn that God’s love is steadfast and lasts forever; his faithfulness is unchanging; he makes covenants and never breaks his word.

Verses 3-4 remind us that God made a covenant with his servant King David and promised that one of his descendants would reign on God’s throne forever and ever. We know that this promised descendant is Jesus, who scripture tells us was “descended from the house and family of David” (Luke 2:4).

As we await the birth of this promised King, let us also remember the many times in our lives God has shown his love and faithfulness to us.
