DAILY READING

Psalm 62:5-12

This weekend’s reading: Daniel 3:13-30

FIELD NOTES
Silence can often be both friend and foe. Growing up in a big (and musical) family, I often longed for silence, and it often rarely came. Now as an adult, I find that I can seek out and acquire silence on my own, and it is often beneficial. However, there are certain times that silence can be a bit uncomfortable. I start thinking about things that the noise has drowned out, dwelling on things that otherwise might not have come to mind. Silence can be saddening, but it can also be enlightening.

In Psalm 62, silence is a theme. David mentions twice that his soul waits in silence for God alone. I often wonder that if the moments of silence that sometimes dread are in the moments in which my soul most deeply connects with God. In these moments of silence, we can listen, learn and be comforted.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

PRAYER GUIDE
I am here Lord in the silence. I want to embrace the silence. I want to wait in the silence that I might feel your presence more strongly. I am here Lord, be with me. Amen.
