DAILY READING

Psalm 144:9-15
This weekend’s reading: Genesis 11:1-9

FIELD NOTES

Read Psalm 144:9-15. If you have time, read it through a couple of times. Often, I find new meaning upon a second or third reading.

What a way to start a Monday! The Psalmist is full of praise for God, the one who “gives victory,” who “rescues,” and who “delivers.” The psalmist also asks God to bless the whole nation of Israel. Verses 12-14 portray such beautiful imagery, as the psalmist imagines God’s full blessing come to fruition on the people.

What if we started every Monday, or even every day of the week, beginning in praise, and then imagining God’s blessings? What would we imagine for today’s world?

QUESTIONS FROM THE FIELD

  • If you were to ask for God’s blessing in your life, what would it look like?
  • If you were to ask God’s blessing on our nation, what would that look like?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • How does God bless you each day?
  • How can you share those blessings with others?
PRAYER

Holy Creator, you are the one who blesses us anew each day. We pray as we begin this week that you would open our eyes to see the blessings you pour out in the world. Help us to point out your glory and your power in all that we see. Amen.
