Small Compromises

October 18, 2018

DAILY READING

Daniel 3:1-18
This weekend’s reading: Mark 10:17-27

FIELD NOTES

“But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

How powerful is this? Faced with certain death, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stand on their faith in God, refusing to sacrifice their beliefs for safety.

What concerns me about myself is not what I would do in the face of certain death, if I’m being honest. What concerns me is the small compromises I make on a daily basis that undermine my faith. Do I laugh at a mean joke? Do I think hateful thoughts about someone who posted something I disagree with on social media? Do I get road rage at the person who cut me off on my commute to church?

Small compromises often lead to bigger issues with sin. How do we fight against them?

PRAYER

God, you are over the big and the small in our lives. May we live with integrity. May our witness not be tarnished because of big or little mistakes. May we faithfully serve you always. Amen.
