Just Do It!

November 16, 2018

DAILY READING

Colossians 2:6-15
This weekend’s reading: Luke 21:1-4

FIELD NOTES

Clear, unvarnished instructions:

  • My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him.
  • You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught.
  • School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it!
  • And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.

QUESTIONS FROM THE FIELD

Just a gentle reminder…. “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

  • What are three ways you can live out of your faith today? Where and with whom?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • Choose one day to “love your family or friends as you love yourself.”

PRAYER

Thankfully, Lord, you have shown us the way. We have only to follow.  May your instruction be clear in our minds and hearts every day.  Amen.
