Christ’s Immeasurable Grace | July 6, 2019

FIELD NOTES
Our devotions all week have revolved around how we can measure a person’s faith. What are the marks of a disciple of Christ? How do you measure spiritual growth? I struggle with perfectionism. Instead of seeing how God is using me or how I am growing in my faith, I often focus on what I am lacking. How I am not measuring up. In reality, none of us is perfect. We will never “measure up” to Christ. We will never do it all right. So what gives me hope? What helps me silence those negative voices telling me I am not enough? What gives me hope is realizing that though we are imperfect and broken, Christ’s resurrection and the grace that comes from that makes us perfect and whole in Christ. We are worthy in God’s eyes. “Each of us is given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” Christ’s grace in response to our broken, sinfulness is immeasurable. Christ’s grace is vast, abundant, never-ending. It is a well of grace that will never dry up and that is the Good News that keeps me going!
QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD
- Where do you need to experience, feel, and know Christ’s grace in your life?
- How can you show yourself grace?
FAMILY QUESTIONS
- What does it “grace” mean to you?
- What does it mean to experience Christ’s grace and forgiveness?
PRAYER GUIDE
God, when I am failing and not measuring up to who You call me to be, remind me of your grace. Help me to feel Your love. Remind me to continue to strive to be more like Christ, but remind me that your grace and Spirit are continuously mending my brokenness and failures. You are always loving me even when I fall short. For that, I give you praise. Amen.
