Joyful Noise?

November 15, 2019

DAILY READINGS

Psalm 98
This weekend’s scripture: Luke 18:15-17

FIELD NOTES

What is your “joyful noise?” When I was younger I led worship at various churches and religious services.  I remember men in particular would be the quietest during worship.

“I’m worshiping on the inside.”
“Singing isn’t really my thing.”
“I like hymns, not these lame worship songs.”
(Ouch)

If there was an excuse, I heard it.

Let me be clear, worship is totally more than singing.  That being said, if that is your attitude, then what is your “joyful noise?”  What are you doing to exclaim the goodness of God in your life?  What is your act of praise?

Let me be clear hear also: singing in worship can be just as empty as anything else, without a true repentant, Christ-seeking heart behind it.

Make a joyful noise, all the earth.  All the earth.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  1. Do you like worship? How do you participate in worship?
  2. What is your “joyful noise?”

PRAYER GUIDE

Help my praise be genuine, God.  Whether it be in song or service or prayer, make me genuine in my worship of you. Amen.
