FIELD NOTES

How often do we stop short in our prayers? How often do we underestimate what God can do?

I remember when my father was sick, laid up in the hospital. I would drive home praying. My prayers often sounded more like pleas of peaceful passing than like prayers for healing—for miracles.

Why? Was I too overwhelmed to know how to pray? Did I lack faith?

Personally, I think I was scared. I was scared of looking foolish. Only a fool would pray for miracles in these modern days.

I was a fool anyways.

May you be bold and foolish, trusting God to do immeasurably more than we can even imagine. Amen.

Questions for the Field
