I Will Be With You

May 8, 2020

DAILY READING

Exodus 3:1-12

FIELD NOTES

One of the most comforting ideas repeated in scripture is that God will be with us.  When we are down and out, we can find joy that God is with us.  When we are scared, we can find joy that God is with us.  When things are going awry, God is with us.  When our friends desert us, God is with us.  When we’re sitting in a hospital room holding the hand of a dying family member, God is with us.

The joy comes in remembering that even when it doesn’t feel like God is with  us.  When it might even feel like God has abandoned us, our joy comes from trusting that God is still with us anyways.

God, we know you’re there, even when we don’t feel it.  Help us to remember when it’s not easy.  Amen.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of joy.

“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.”
-Pope John Paul II

Many of us have experienced despair during this time. Who can you remind today that there is joy to be found in trusting that God is with us?
