When They’re Against Us

May 19, 2020

DAILY READING

1 Peter 3:8-12

FIELD NOTES

Read the passage for today at least three times.

Patience can be most elusive when we face challenges, particularly when we are against others.  Be it a spouse, or a child, or a co-worker.  When we feel we have been treated unjustly, our desire for justice can really try our patience.  How we react in the face of adversity often shows what fruit we are bearing.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • When have you been treated unjustly? How did you react?

PRAYER GUIDE

Lord, may we react according to your Spirit when we come up against adversity.  Amen.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of patience.

“Let nothing perturb you, nothing frighten you. All things pass. God does not change. Patience achieves everything.”
-St. Teresa of Avila

Who can you encourage with this truth today? Who can you remind that God does not change and that all things pass?
