In the Tombs

October 27, 2020

DAILY READING

Mark 5:1-20

FIELD NOTES

In today’s readings, we see the demon-possessed man is relegated to the tombs, having previously been chained and held captive.  He was a problem for the people and this was how they dealt with him.

Isn’t that how we deal with a lot of our problems?  We hide them away.  We lock them up.  We chain them up so that they don’t escape and hurt someone, or destroy things.  This man in the story, being in isolation, had been torturing himself.  Maybe this isn’t the case in your life, but I know when I stow away problems inside my being, they tend to get worse.  They manifest in different, yet just as powerful, ways.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • What are you hiding away so you don’t have to deal with it?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • Talk as a family about healthy ways to deal with problems.

PRAYER GUIDE

Lord may all that is hidden be exposed to your healing.  Amen.
