Why Are You So Afraid?

November 6, 2020

DAILY READING

Mark 4:35-41

FIELD NOTES

Jesus’ words here always hit me as funny.  I have to imagine a slight sarcastic tone to his voice when he asks his disciples what they were so afraid of?  Didn’t they know who was on the boat with them?  Small moments like this remind us of the humanity of Jesus, while also highlighting his omnipotence.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • What are some moments when you’ve forgotten about God’s provision?
  • What are you afraid of?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • Look through the book of Mark.  In what ways do you see Jesus acting like a normal guy? Like you?

PRAYER GUIDE

Lord, help us remember you’ve been here, and you’ve had the same fears we’ve had.  Help us also remember that you calm the storms.  Amen.
