DAILY READING

John 11:1-26

FIELD NOTES

When I was in youth group, one of my youth pastors was a woman named Cheryl. She was a teacher and then spent all of her free time with us rowdy high schoolers, trying to teach us how to follow Jesus. And she did. She constantly invested in our lives, spending time with us, challenging us, taking us to experience the world outside of our tiny rural town. She showed us the Imago Dei in the other. She called us out when we messed up and held us accountable. She loved us fiercely and never let us think we weren’t lovable. She died four years ago. Not a day goes by that the lessons she taught us don’t inform how we live out our faith to this day. When I think of the saints, when I think of Christ, I think of her.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • Who invested in you as you grew up?
  • Who helped shape you into the person you are today?
  • Who shaped your faith?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • Who do you look up to?
