DAILY READING

Galatians 5:16-26

FIELD NOTES

When I was six years old, I wanted a Voltron robot toy.  It cost $30.00.  My parents would not buy it for me.  I had an allowance of $3.00 per week.  My parents said if I wanted Voltron, I could save up my allowance until I had enough to buy it.  The next ten or so weeks felt like a lifetime.  But I remember the day my parents told me I had enough money.  I remember going to Toys-R-Us.  I remember carrying Voltron to the checkout counter.  I remember handing the money to the lady on my own.  And I remember loving that toy more than any other toy I had.  I took care of it better than any other toy.  It was then, and remains now, my favorite toy that I ever owned.
