Count Your Blessings

DAILY READING

Psalm 118:1—“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

FIELD NOTES

As Pastor Joe was preparing for his Thanksgiving message, he called his mother and asked, “Mama, you lived through the Great Depression with seven of us kids. We had nothing. We were worse than poor. How did you make it through all the hardships, taking care of us with nothing?”

She said, “Joe, yes, the Great Depression could be depressing. When we began feeling depressed, we counted our blessings as we prayed. When we finished, we had no depression!”

PRAYER GUIDE

Dear loving, gracious God, thank you for all of the many blessings you give us. If I get anxious today, please help me count your blessings and realize that your blessings are greater than any of my troubles. Please help me become an even greater blessing for you with whomever I interact today. In your gracious name, I ask. Amen!
