Small Acts of Love
DAILY READING
FIELD NOTES
Yesterday our devotion was about some big, almost unbelievable miracles that happened in 2 Kings and Acts. Today, what struck me in our readings, specifically in Acts is something smaller, really a minute detail. Acts 15:36 says, “After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Come, let us return and visit the believers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.” Paul and Barnabas are intentionally visiting and checking in on their fellow Christians. They are forming and deepening relationships with their neighbors on purpose. It occurs to me that God is certainly in the work of doing unexpected, almost unbelievable miracles, but it is also in the small things like checking in on our neighbors or small group members over time that Christ’s love is taught and shared. Even in the small acts of love shared with a hurting friend or stranger, Christ’s miraculous work abounds.
