Steadfast Love

DAILY READING

Psalm 118:24

Here we are on the first Monday following a triumphant Easter. After an online-only service in 2020, and an outdoor service off campus last year, what a joy it was to be together back in our own sanctuary for a crowded, joyful, celebratory return-to-church kind of Easter! Praise be to God!

What better way to kick off this first full week of the Easter season than by reading and immersing ourselves in the truth of Psalm 118? This quintessential psalm of praise reminds us that the love of God is steadfast and endures forever. Even in the midst of and after global pandemics!

I’m teaching my kids “This is the Day,” a favorite hymn by Les Garrett based on Psalm 118:24. (It’s hymn number 657 in our United Methodist Hymnal!) For an upbeat version sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, give it a listen.

For an interesting history of this beloved hymn, see here.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
