The Power of Laughter

DAILY READING

Philippians 1:1-6

Laughter is a gift from God.

Our medical experts exalt the virtues of laughter. People who have a minimum of three good laughs a day are healthier, have greater oxygen flow through their bodies, build stronger immunity systems, sleep better, and have less stress. Even people who force a good laugh receive these benefits.

Just a smile (even a forced smile) on a face produces positive physiological results, especially the ability to relax. Plus, a smile uses fewer muscles than a frown.

Research shows that healthy humor strengthens the worship of God, our relationships, and the workplace.

Add to laughter and smiles, knowing that God has our back (a strong relationship) produces even greater health.

Later in chapter four of this letter of joy, Paul talks about being content, even in distress, and affirms that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him (Philippians 4).

So, laugh, have fun, smile, and put your total faith in Jesus Christ above all. He’s got us!
