Your Promises

March 27, 2020

This week, as we settle into a life of social distancing to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, we will be focusing on how we can be Spiritually united. This week for our Field Guides, we invite you to meditate and pray over Scriptures that we hope will claim the promises that God is always with us and present in times of suffering and tribulation. As you meditate on these words, we invite you to remember that hundreds of people will be reading these same words and meditating on their promises in their own spaces and places. We will become united through this practice!  We hope these scriptures bring you peace and comfort. Our prayer for this time is that our neighbors would remain healthy and safe, and our anxieties would subside to the peace that passes all understanding. Amen.

Psalm 119:49-56

49 Remember your word to your servant,
for you have given me hope.
50 My comfort in my suffering is this:
    Your promise preserves my life.
51 The arrogant mock me unmercifully,
but I do not turn from your law.
52 I remember, Lord, your ancient laws,
and I find comfort in them.
53 Indignation grips me because of the wicked,
    who have forsaken your law.
54 Your decrees are the theme of my song
    wherever I lodge.
55 In the night, Lord, I remember your name,
that I may keep your law.
56 This has been my practice:
    I obey your precepts.

FIELD NOTES

Let the scripture wash over you in these times. Remember it.  Recite it. Have your kids memorize it. Read and reread it. Grab a copy of something like “The Jesus Storybook Bible,” for your kids. Grab a commentary and dive deep into something you’ve always wanted to study. We are highlighting the scripture this week. Let it wash over you.
