DAILY READING

Proverbs 3:5-12

FIELD NOTES

How does one sow peace into their life and the lives of others? I think one way we can even begin to do this is by first, trusting that God’s ways are higher than our ways.  What does this look like practically?

You feel called to be a foster parent.  But that is scary, and comes with so many more questions than answers.  And yet, you know God’s ways are higher than yours.  So you trust.  And you go through the foster system and become a foster parent.

And it’s harder than you imagined.  The kid placed in your home is in trouble all of the time.  They don’t appreciate you or the home you’ve provided.  At least, on the surface they don’t.

Because if you’re doing it right, what you are doing is slowly sowing peace into their life in the form of a stable, loving home.  And you are tired, angry, frustrated—all of the emotions that come with raising a foster kid—but you are also at peace because you know you are doing what God called you to do.  And you trust that God’s ways are higher than our ways.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of peace.

“May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.”
-St. Teresa of Avila

Who do you know that could use this encouragement today?
