Revelation 14:6-13

Field Notes
The time for confession has arrived! And here it is…I am reading today’s scripture with a hopeful heart…my eyes avoiding the references to brokenness, pain, sin and destruction. I want to think of myself as being a part of the cloud of witnesses, angels and saints that are worshipping and praising God.

***In the whole land,” declares the Lord,
    “two-thirds will be struck down and perish;
    yet one-third will be left in it.
9 This third I will put into the fire;
    I will refine them like silver
    and test them like gold.
They will call on my name
    and I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
    and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”

Thankfully, there is a time for reflection, rethinking, recommitting, and refinement. That time is now, today…to consider those behaviors and actions in our lives that are not worthy of our call to discipleship.

Questions for the Field

  • Ask God to show you places needing refinement and growth within your spirit?
  • What practices or behaviors will be outcomes of your prayer?

Family Field Talk

  • Talk about how having a clean spirit can prepare you for the season of Advent.

Prayer

Psalm 80
1 Hear us, Shepherd of Israel,
    you who lead Joseph like a flock.
You who sit enthroned between the cherubim,
    shine forth 2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Awaken your might;
    come and save us.
3 Restore us, O God;
    make your face shine on us,
    that we may be saved. Amen.
