FIELD NOTES
Do you remember the old worship song that goes, “It’s your kindness, Lord, that leads us to repentance…”
I was thinking about that today—given our current discourse on social media. Has anyone been nasty to you and changed your mind? Has anyone called you names for not agreeing with them on the internet and caused you to think, “Maybe they’re right?”
I doubt it. I don’t doubt that perhaps people on social media have changed your mind. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from social media the last few years. But it wasn’t from unkind people, or internet trolls.
It was from people using kindness as a tool to get people to listen.
Because kindness invites. It doesn’t push away.
God invites us. God doesn’t push us away.
PRAYER GUIDE
Lord, may we be kind, as you are kind, so as to invite people into your love. Amen.
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE
For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of kindness.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32
Christ has shown us the the greatest gift of kindness by sacrificing himself for us. Who has made a difference in your day through their act of kindness? Who do you know who could be blessed by an act of kindness today?
