DAILY READING

Psalm 99

FIELD NOTES

We have two boys—a three-year old and a seven month old.  The three-year old loves his baby brother.  But something has happened in the last couple weeks that has thrown a hiccup into their relationship.  The baby started crawling.

Our oldest was building a castle with magnatiles.  He had stacked them up and up, even higher than his head.  He was so proud of his achievement when out of nowhere(as nowhere as a slow crawling baby can be), his brother knocked it down and giggled as he did it, I kid you not.

Needless to say, the three-year old was not happy.  “Daddy!  He bwoke my castle!”  “No! No! Brother!” He yelled at his baby brother.

“Hey bub, we can’t yell at our baby brother.  For one, he doesn’t understand it.  And two, it’s not nice.  He just wants to play with you.”

Parents, raise your hand if you’ve had this conversation at least 1000 times.  I think most parents to say that one of their goals is to raise kind kids.  I know we set that goal for ours.  Kindness is powerful and can take kids far in life, whether you believe that or not.  It is a fruit and it is vital to our growth in the Spirit.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of kindness.

“I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.”
– Anne Frank, “The Diary of a Young Girl”
