Repentance

July 3, 2020

DAILY READING

Romans 7:7-20

FIELD NOTES

How do we take control of sin in our lives?  First, we have to acknowledge it.  We have to admit we are committing a sin.  Secondly, we have to truly repent—turn away from it.  If we have hurt people we should seek amends.  We must make restitutions.  We have to realize our own problems before we can take control of them.

We can’t control a lot of what happens to us, but we can always control our own heart, and we can always control our own reaction to our own sin.  May we ever seek repentance with a contrite heart and grace.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • Of what do you need to repent?

PRAYER GUIDE

Lord, show us any wicked ways in our own hearts so that we may take control of them and repent.  Amen.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of self-control.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

Humble yourself before God. Turn your face to Him. What is God speaking to you today? Take a moment to sit in His presence and listen to His words.
