Psalm 62:5-12

FIELD NOTES

I have to be honest, this is one of the hardest psalms for me to relate to. Doubt has always plagued me, and while I think it has mostly pushed me deeper into my relationship with God, it’s also made passages like this hard for me to understand. I’ve seen hardship. I’ve felt real pain. And I’m ashamed to say that there have been times when I’ve not only not found God to be my refuge or fortress, but I’ve actually lashed out in anger against God because of what I’ve seen. 

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

• What does our response to God say about our relationship with God? Can we find God to be both a refuge and still doubt at the same time?
