God Cares for You

DAILY READING

Jeremiah 1:4-10

This weekend’s reading: Isaiah 40:1-11

FIELD NOTES
Last Christmas, I had just given birth to our daughter, Iris. She was the cutest and most perfect little nugget I had ever seen. Holding her in my arms as I heard the Christmas story and passages like this one in Jeremiah really grew my perspective of who God is and the faithfulness of Mary. In Jeremiah, he writes that God knows us even from the womb, consecrates us from birth to serve God and grows us up to be faithful disciples. How beautiful it is that God cares about each and every one of us so much! In this passage, Jeremiah argues with God that he is “only a boy!” and thus can’t serve God yet. But the Lord replies, “Do not say, ‘I am only a boy’; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you.” So not only does God care for us from the womb, God has confidence that we can indeed carry out his call!

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • Do you believe that you can hear and carry out God’s call in your life?
  • If not, pray for faithfulness and courage. Don’t be scared to call up or email a pastor to talk more about your questions and uneasiness.

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • How do you think God is calling each member of your family to serve Him?

PRAYER GUIDE
God, we thank you so much that you care for us even from the womb and that you walk with us each day, calling us to serve you. God, I pray that you give us all courage to live out your call. I also pray a special prayer this Advent season for people struggling with infertility or miscarriage and for those discerning a call to adoption or fostering. Amen.
