FIELD NOTES
(Written by a student on the 2017 Merge middle school retreat.)

I have felt God’s presence on many retreats, but I felt he was extremely present on Merge. It was the second day that I felt he was most present. I was having an amazing time worshiping and playing around with my friends until I injured my arm. I didn’t feel like doing anything; I just wanted to go home. It felt like my time there had stopped; like God was pulling me away from that amazing experience. As the day progressed, my friends reminded me that everything will be okay. Even though I was unable to do some of the activities, I still had lots of fun worshiping, singing, and playing around with my friends. After worship, we were dismissed to our cabins, and we had a really deep and memorable conversation. I was surrounded by my best friends who love me and support me, and I felt like I could tell them anything. God was telling me how he had blessed me with such a wonderful family, and I realized how lucky I was to have these girls always by my side. I realized how God had been with all of us that weekend, and he was making sure that we grew in our faith together and in our relationships together. I learned how fortunate I was to have such close, loving friends and how God had blessed me.

ABOUT TODAY’S FIELD GUIDE
Today’s Field Guide comes from our Share the Spirit devotional guide. These testimonials are written by students, staff, and volunteers who have participated in one of our youth mission trips or choir tours in the past. They are sharing their experiences and the lessons they learned from God and from each other. We hope the words they share help you grow in your faith. We also hope these words challenge you to grow deeper in your faith by participating in one of these missional opportunities or giving generously so that others can. Sign up to attend Share the Spirit on March 10.
