DAILY READING

1 Corinthians 15:19-28
Psalm 114
This weekend’s reading: Romans 3:20-24

FIELD NOTES

John Wesley, in his sermon, The Repentance of Believers, says this:

“Continue to believe in him that loved thee and gave himself for thee, that bore all thy sins in his own body on the tree; and he saveth thee from all condemnation…And when we go ‘from faith to faith,’ when we have a faith to be cleansed from indwelling sin, we are saved from all that guilt, that desert of punishment, which we felt before.“ –John Wesley Sermons, an Anthology

Christ died and made us whole, and our guilt was taken on by him on our behalf.  Live in that truth and go forward as a forgiven child of God.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • How often do I let my guilt overtake my thoughts?
  • Why do we choose to focus on our sins rather our forgiveness?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • Make a list of ways in which you have been forgiven and thank God for them.

PRAYER
Lord, allow us to live in your truth—that we are forgiven and our guilt is put to death by your death and resurrection.  Let us walk in that joy.  Amen.
