DAILY READING

Psalm 111
This weekend’s reading: Matthew 6:25-33

FIELD NOTES

It’s about this time of the summer that my mind and spirit need to offer a great praise to God in Thanksgiving for the summer.  The grass is a bit crunchy from the heat, the weeds have overtaken the flower beds and school is about to start back.  It’s about this time that I love to pause and take the time to recognize the beauty that has been the summer season.  The sun has warmed my skin and brightened my day, lazy days spent at the lake and by the pool have nourished my soul, and the chance to spend more time with family and friends has renewed my spirit.  I hope the same is true for you and I hope that the words of today’s Psalm sings true to your heart.  “Praise the Lord!  I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart! Great are the works of the Lord!”

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • What are you grateful for today?
  • How are you giving thanks to God for your blessings?

PRAYER
Lord, we pause to give thanks for all of the wonder and blessings of the summer as the summer season comes to a close.  Thank you for the beauty of your creation and the change of pace.  You are a wonderful and awesome God!
