Psalm 91
This weekend’s reading:Job 2:11-13
FIELD NOTES
One of the lessons I learn every Lent is the power of letting God be God. Of course, this requires me to surrender a lot. I must surrender my expectations of timing, my need to have things done in the way I want them done, and my need for self-sufficiency.
But God delivers what I could not. And God’s results are always better than I could have produced on my own.
Read Psalm 91:14-16 again. This time notice what we are called to do and what God will provide in response.
We simply have to love God and to call out to God. And in return, we receive: deliverance, protection, a God who answers us, wants to be with us, rescues us, honors us, satisfies us, and shows us salvation.
All that seems worth the cost that comes with surrendering and letting God be God.
