Rough Seas

DAILY READING

Acts 27:13-38

FIELD NOTES

All week, we’ve been talking about peace, and about trusting God.  We’ve talked about how things can work out.

But here’s the thing:  Sometimes the seas are rough.  Sometimes our spouse dies.  Sometimes we lose our jobs.  Sometimes things are just hard.

The trust comes in knowing that when this world is restored to its full glory, God will make all the wrongs right, and that God will heal all the broken pieces of our lives.  And that in that restoration, the truest form of peace we will ever know will fill our hearts.  Amen.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • How do we reconcile that sometimes, things are just hard?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • How do we trust God when things are hard?

PRAYER GUIDE

Lord, may we always trust in the big picture, that things will eventually be made right, no matter how hard it gets here during our time on Earth. Amen.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of peace.

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
-MLK Jr.

What kind of peace comes when we put all of our trust in God? Who have you learned from who has put all of their trust in God and experienced his peace? Take a moment to thank or encourage them today!
