Pentecost

May 28, 2020

DAILY READING

Acts 2:1-11

FIELD NOTES

Pentecost is something, isn’t it?  God pours down the Spirit on the people and they speak in strange languages.  Tongues of fire fall on them.  They are filled with the Spirit.  If it were in a movie, it would be full of special effects.

And yet, today, that same Spirit lives in us, and it bears fruit.  And it grows that fruit.  And uses that fruit to feed not only our souls, but the souls of those around us.

Are we taking care to listen to the Spirit when it nudges us?

PRAYER GUIDE

Lord, may our fruit feed those around us as well as ourselves.  Amen.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT CHALLENGE

For the duration of our sermon series, we are offering daily prompts for applying the wisdom from the scriptures to our everyday lives. Each week focuses on how we can encourage those around us and bear fruit! This week we are focusing on the fruit of kindness.

“More people have been brought into the church by the kindness of real Christian love than by all the theological arguments in the world.”

-William Barclay

Is there someone who has brought you into the church by kindness? Take a moment to thank them and let them know what that meant to you!
