Who’s at the Door?

FIELD NOTES

When I was in college, I joined a fraternity.  It was fun and all, but what I remember most was how exclusive it was.  I remember one year, we had a pledge class with this one guy in it who was just struggling to meet the admission requirements.  Our leadership team had a meeting one night and voted to not allow him to continue the pledging process.  It was rough.  Because I knew him best, I was tasked with telling him the bad news.  He broke down.  He was hurt.  The door had been shut in his face.

I didn’t care for the fraternity that much after that.  Exclusivity is not my cup of tea.  I’d rather have a seat for everyone at the table.

QUESTIONS FROM THE FIELD

What good does exclusivity serve the kingdom of God?

PRAYER GUIDE
