DAILY READING

Psalm 19

FIELD NOTES

Have you ever experienced a sunrise or sunset that renders you completely speechless? Is there a place in this world, in nature, where your soul just feels closer to God? There are many ways to connect with God, but for many of us, God feels incredibly near when we take time to simply be in creation.

Some translations of Psalm 19 state that “heavens are telling the glory of God,” as if God’s story of love and redemption is written among the hues of purple and orange. The vastness of the sky reminds us of how small we are and how big God is.

Just as the sun shines light on the earth, God’s Word exposes every thought and meditation on our hearts. Our human hearts often veer off course, but our Rock and Redeemer is always there to guide us to see the beauty in both creation and Holy Word.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • What is on your heart today? Is there something that needs light shone upon it?
  • Do the meditations of your heart reflect God’s heart?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • How can you/we experience God in creation?
  • What does God love? Should we love what God loves?
