DAILY READING

Mark 5:1-20

FIELD NOTES

You could say this man in the story was distracted by his circumstances.  When Jesus casts the demons out of him, he is able to center and take control of his life.

Not nearly on the same scale, but there have been times when I have let circumstances distract me from what was important in life.  Whether it be financial worries, or work stress, or the busyness of having two kids under 5.  Regardless, our circumstances can’t determine our actions.  We can let them if we choose to, but we can also take control.  With God’s help, we can focus on what is important and what action needs to be taken.  We just have to ask for help.

QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD

  • What circumstances are holding you up right now?
  • What might God be trying to teach you in this time?

FAMILY FIELD TALK

  • What does the word circumstance mean?
  • How do we ask God for help?

PRAYER GUIDE

Your ways are higher than ours.  Help us remember that.  Amen.
