Overwhelmed

DAILY READING

Mark 4:35-41

FIELD NOTES

My last year of seminary, I was taking more credit hours than I ever had. I was doing a practicum that required 20 hours a week.  I was working in the seminary maintenance department, cleaning dorms in the mornings.  At night, I was working at the campus hotel front desk.  I was also head resident advisor for all male dorms.  To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement.

There were assignments for class where I honestly have no idea how I got them done, let alone done with a passing grade.  Right around what we called Reading Week, which came two weeks before Finals, I was in a full-blown panic.  I didn’t know how I was going to get my work done, which had to get done because I was supposed to be graduating three weeks later.  I remember sneaking away one night into the seminary chapel, praying for strength to get my work done.
