Witness

DAILY READING

Luke 19:28-40

What a sight it must have been to see Jesus ride into town with the people around enthusiastically praising him. They were celebrating all the mighty acts they had seen and heard, while also anticipating what was to come. These followers lived with enthusiasm the praise that they had for Jesus, the Son of God. I can only imagine the passion in which those followers praised Jesus overflowed into sharing with their friends.

It’s natural for us to share with our close friends about an incredible experience we have had. The first time I went to Fenway Park I doubt I stopped talking about it for a year, maybe two. It is normal for us to talk about the amazing experiences we have had in the world but, are we also like this when we have had an encounter with God? When we see God at work in the world can we not stop talking about it? When we have an amazing experience of praising the living God it should send us out into the world, sharing and witnessing to the love God has for each of us. Let your witness be not only in action but also in stories of transformation as you share how God’s Kingdom continues to unfold here on earth.

ACTION FOR THE DAY

Write down three times in which you have had an amazing encounter with God (in worship, in nature, on a retreat, in healing, in prayer) and share those experiences with someone the next chance you get.
