FIELD NOTES
Each time I left my house to spend the day or weekend away, my mom would say, “Remember your last name!” It may sound like a weird or even prideful statement, but I knew exactly what she meant: ‘remember whom you represent’! Through her send-off message, she was reminding me who I was, who I represented, and calling me to act in a way that would make our family proud.
In verse 20 and 21 of 2 Corinthians, we are given a similar ‘send-off’. Because of our reconciliation and new life in Christ, we are now “ambassadors for Christ”. We bear his image, his name, and the responsibility to implore others to “be reconciled to God”. We carry the Kingdom message and we are a reflection of the light of Jesus Christ in this dark world.
QUESTIONS FOR THE FIELD
- What does it mean to be an ambassador?
- Who are you representing in your day-to-day life?
- Can others see that you are a new creation?
FAMILY FIELD TALK
- What are ways we can represent Jesus in our actions at school, on the playground, on the bus, or on our sports teams?
PRAYER GUIDE
Gracious God, thank you for new life that comes from you. Thank you for removing us from our past and giving us freedom to live as your redeemed children. Give us the boldness and excitement to be your ambassadors and carry your message to the world.
