Luke 6:46-49
This weekend’s reading: Genesis 37:1-11

FIELD NOTES

Jesus is very clear here: Following him means putting his words into practice.  I don’t think this is a power trip, however.  He has provided us with a way of living that leads to the Kingdom of God.  Loving God, our neighbor, even ourselves—these are the foundations of a Godly life. 
 
He doesn’t want us to miss out on that.  He wants all of us to experience the Kingdom of God in all its glory.  That doesn’t just happen though.  We have to listen and actually follow him. 
 
Why is this so hard to actually do?

  • In what ways do you ignore the teachings of Jesus?  Be honest.

  • How can we better do what Jesus says, in our family? In our school?

PRAYER

Jesus, may we actually do what you say. May we not be the foolish builders, but the wise. Amen and amen.
