Witness

DAILY READING

Luke 13:31-35

I love the way The Message translates this passage. “Tell that fox that I’ve no time for him right now. Today and tomorrow I’m busy clearing out the demons and healing the sick…” Jesus straightforward without shame replies that he has no time for Herod, because he is busy going about the work of the Gospel. My color-coordinated calendar could tell you that I have a lot of my time booked. My calendar tells people that I am a dad, I am a husband, I love spending time in the gym, and I spend a considerable amount of time in meetings. What does our calendar tell us about the amount of time we without shame go about the work of the Gospel? When we look at our calendar what does it say to others about how we prioritize living out the Gospel in our daily lives? The reality is our witness does not have to change our calendar, but it should change the way we approach the things on our calendar. By simply acknowledging that everything we put on our calendar is an opportunity to be a witness to the Gospel in our world, we can change the way we approach our busy lives.

ACTION FOR THE DAY

Today pick one thing on your calendar and retitle it by adding this to the end of the event “…an opportunity to live out my faith in the world.”
